FAQ(s)
Do I have choice in what is explored in my sessions?
Yes, you have total control over what areas you would like to focus on throughout sessions. If there is anything you do not want to discuss or explore, that is completely ok. Happy to go wherever is most helpful for you.
How often are sessions?
Sessions are based on your preference and can be weekly, fortnightly, monthly, 6wkly or even quarterly. It is helpful to let some life happen in between appointments, but different seasons may require different levels of support.
How much notice do I need to give if I need to cancel my appointment?
As much as possible would be great. This helps me to manage my calendar and availabilities for others. I know sometimes things come up without alot of warning, but letting me know as soon as you can if you need to cancel is super helpful. If notice is less than 24 hours then this may incur a cancelation fee.
Is my information confidential?
Yes, your information is confidential and is not released to anyone else without your prior consent. The only exceptions to this, is if there is any concern about your immediate safety (including self harm or suicidal ideation) then your safety overrides confidentiality and others may be contacted. The only other exception is my requirement for supervision, but all care is taken in de-identifying any cases discussed.
Do I need a Mental Health Care Plan?
You do not need a Mental Health Care Plan, but you are welcome to access one. You can ask your GP to write one up, which means Medicare will give you a rebate for 10 sessions per calendar year.
How does a Mental Health Care Plan work?
A Mental Health Care Plan, is a plan that is written up by your GP upon your request and considers areas of support around mental health. Every plan is valid for 12months before it expires.
The original plan covers 6 sessions, following this there is a follow up review with your GP, who can then review your plan for another 4 sessions- resulting in 10 sessions within the plan period.
These sessions are entitled to a Medicare rebate of $101.55 (July 2026) per session.
Please note, there is also a limit of 10 sessions within a calendar year as well.
Can my Child use a Mental Health Care Plan?
Yes, your Child is able to access a Mental Health Care Plan to use for their sessions. They just need to be listed on an Adult’s Medicare card. The rebate is the same as an Adult’s plan.
Can I use my private health for a rebate?
Each Private Health Fund has different requirements and options for what level of psychological care they cover. It is best to check with your Health Fund to find out what they cover for your type of health insurance.
How do I pay for my sessions?
There are a few options available for payment. If in person, there is eftpos (tap & go) available which is the most straight forward.
There is also a secure online link that can be sent for you to fill in your payment details or alternatively you can opt to have your payment details securely stored on Halaxy’s Client Platform.
Do you provide reports or letters of support?
Generally no, I do not. However I am happy to talk through what your needs may be around this.
Please note, that any reports or letters of support that are agreed upon will be provided under a fee.
